New Researh: The Corpus Callosum and Autism
What happens when the brain's internal communication cable is frayed or undersized? New research into the corpus callosum — the thick bundle of nerve fibers connecting the brain's two hemispheres — reveals that this structure develops differently in autism spectrum disorder. Two peer-reviewed studies, one cellular and one using MRI scans of 97 children, are bringing us closer to understanding why.
